 Department of Cultural Preservation and Development

Purpose: Safeguard and promote the cultural identity, traditions, and heritage of the Maya-We Nation.

Nitaino Personnel:

​​

  • Director of Cultural Affairs: Oversees departmental strategy and activities.

  • Cultural Coordinator: Plans and executes cultural events and programs.

  • Archivist: Maintains and organizes records, artifacts, and historical materials.

  • Volunteers: Assist during major cultural events and initiatives (as needed).

Minimum Team Size: 3 full-time staff + volunteers.

Duties:

  • Organize cultural events, ceremonies, and festivals to strengthen identity and traditions.

  • Develop educational programs focused on Maya-We history, language, and practices.

  • Maintain national symbols, including flags, seals, anthems, and archives.

  • Protect and digitize cultural artifacts and records for the diaspora.

  • Advocate for Indigenous cultural rights and representation internationally.
